WHAT WERE YOU DOING TEN YEARS AGO?
In 1997 I was almost 25 and that summer I had just started working at my first office job. Up until then I had worked mainly as a preschool teacher or nanny but I'd decided that I needed to take a break. I went to work at an insurance company doing filing and handling cancellation/reinstatements of policies. I found out that I was quite good at customer service, particularly dealing with the more demanding/crabby clients. I actually liked the job alot because I worked with some really nice people and for the first time I began to feel a bit like a grown up, going into the office every day in my nice office clothes instead of the stain resistant casual jeans & tshirts I wore as a preschool teacher. Also at that time I got my own place for the very first time; no parents, room mates, or boyfriends. It was WONDERFUL. I passionately loved having my own space, my own routines, and no one to answer to.
WHAT WERE YOU DOING A YEAR AGO?
This time last year I was feeling fairly depressed. I'd lost my grandmother who helped raise me & was the most influential person in my life. I'd lost my two Uncles, both of whom were under 50 years old. To top off everything my husband and I had just lost our beloved horse. Taking care of her was a big part of my daily routine and without that reason to get up and out of the house I just completely withdrew from most things and started gaining lots of weight, eventually putting back on the 80 lbs I'd lost two years earlier. Also around that time we were considering a move to Arizona which wasn't something we really wanted to do, but thought might be a smart thing financially(ultimately decided the money wasn't worth it).On the positive side though, it was around a year ago that my husband and I both really got into photography and began taking more trips to do photographs which I love. We took a two week vacation to Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, the Gold country of California and San Francisco. Fun fun fun!!
